Gaia’s 5 mushroom and 14 mushroom blend can be added to hot water for an instant tea or add a spoonful to your smoothie, broth or favourite morning beverage.
Medicinal mushrooms have been discovered as having medicinal value due to the presence of biologically active compounds that can influence our physiological processes. Medicinal mushrooms act as functional foods meaning they provide us with health benefits above and beyond the provision of essential nutrients. Consumed as a regular dietary supplement, these mushrooms have a high potential for improving health by increasing resilience, delaying the aging process, protecting against chronic disease, and supporting the structure and function of the body.

Has quarantine got you growing out unruly facial hair?

Itchy, scratchy, unkempt beard. Treat the man in your life with a natural soothing beard oil to nourish and tame that beard.

A simple and natural way to blend a beard oil that lasts a year.

For a smooth beard and for sensitive skin, a beard oil using Jojoba oil or Argan oil is best. These oils act the most like your own natural oils, making them easy for your face and skin to absorb. Make sure any added scents in the beard oil are made with all-natural essential oil blends rather than unidentified “fragrance,” which can be full of harsh chemicals that can irritate skin and dry out hair. Essential oils, however, can actually have a beneficial effect on skin and facial hair. We recommend using a beard oil after washing your beard when it’s nearly dry. Slather the beard with this custom sensitive skin blend after washing.

DIY SENSITIVE SKIN BEARD OIL RECIPE

Simply combine the jojoba oil with the argan oil in a dark or amber-colored glass dispenser bottle and shake. Dispense 5-10 drops into your hands and massage into your beard. If you would like to add a scent to this formula, experiment with adding 5 drops of a gentle essential oil like chamomile, lavender, or cedarwood

Other essential oils ideal for a beard oil:

Tea Tree essential oil: Tea Tree or Melaleuca has long been used for skin issues. It promotes tissue regeneration, is immune-supporting, and promotes healthy respiratory function. It works wonders on the skin.

Sandalwood essential oil: A wonderful cleaning astringent, sandalwood oil increases the skin’s ability to hold and retain moisture while offering a distinct woody sweet aroma.

Enjoy the smooth, sleek, and clean look of the beard while enjoying the softness and aroma of the essential oils.

While they are are a big part of tea culture, tisanes, also known as herbal teas are technically not teas but rather an infusion. Tisanes (pronounced tee-zahn) are typically an infusion of plants that are not the same as plants from true teas – black, green, oolong, etc). Tisanes, therefore, is a decoction of other herbal plants which can then be taken hot or cold.

With Spring in the air and hot summer days around the corner – an iced tisane is a delightful, refreshing, and healthy change from sugary cold sodas or juices.

Tisanes are caffeine-free and have been used for pleasure but also for their medicinal benefits. They can also be high in nutrients and antioxidants.

Tisanes vary in kind and can be made from different parts of the plant. Depending on the part, how you make the tisane can vary. Tisanes are made from leaves, bark, root, berry, or the seed or spice.

Infusions are usually made with the leaf, flower, or seed of the plant.  Making a tisane is as simple as making tea diffusion by pouring hot water over the tea leaves and letting it steep.

A decoction on the other hand is made from the roots, bark, or the berries and is the method of placing these plant parts in boiling water, which releases more essential oils and flavour.  Brewing times vary based on taste and optimum to release flavour from the particular plant. Gaia staff will gladly advise on ideal brewing times based on the herb.

With so many varieties of herbs to use for a tisane based on your tastes or your medicinal needs, Gaia Garden has a wide choice of teas leaves, flowers, roots, bark, and berries.
