As a plant, Coffee originated from the province of Kaffa in Ethopia. A number of reports and legends surround its first use but the history of coffeeappears to date back to the 15th century, and possibly earlier. The earliest substantiated evidence of either coffee drinking or knowledge of the coffee tree is from the early 15th century, in the Sufi monasteries of Yemen and then spreading to Mecca and Cairo.
Coffee essential oil has 0.5%-1.5% caffeine. The amount of caffeine that would enter the body from using one drop of oil with 1% caffeine (0.04mg of caffeine) is 2500 times less than the average cup of coffee.
