Benzoin (Styrax benzoin) – Essential Oil

SKU: 15103

Benzoin made its way to England in the 15th century. Brought over by spice traders, the benzoin was ground into powder and used in perfumes worn by Queen Elizabeth I. Soon, the “incense from Java,” as it was called, began to be used therapeutically. This oil has a thick, sticky consistency with a sweet, vanilla-like aroma. Famous as a fixative in perfumes and colognes as a base note. This oil is also wonderful for grounding.

Benzoin essential oil can be used topically and is said to be a powerful skin regenerator, helping with chapped and inflamed skin, wounds and scars. It acts as a deodorant, disinfectant and astringent. Benzoin oil’s greatest benefit lies in that it has a calming effect on the nervous and digestive systems, a warming effect on circulation problems and a toning effect on the respiratory tract.

Blends well with: Bergamot, Frankincense, Juniper, Lavender, Lemon, Myrrh, Orange, Rose and Sandalwood.
