White Sage is a flowering perennial that is native to the American Southwest. This is a sun loving plant and has tall stiff stems and tiny white flowers. Much of the natural range of growth in Southern California has been disturbed by human development.

White Sage is a member of the Lamiaceae family and goes by the common name of Greasewood and Ceremonial White Sage.

The smoke of Sage is used for healing and purifying the person or object being smudged. Burning Sage smoke is used to purify or cleanse when one wishes to enter ceremony or a sacred space. May be be used to cleanse a room or a house of unwanted energies.

Energetics and properties:

The burning of Sage is one of the oldest methods of cleansing a space, a group of people or a single person or object. This practice dates back to ancient civilizations and has been documented as having been used in many lands by our ancestors.

It has been said that Sage smoke has been observed to clear bacteria in a space and purify the air.

How to use:

Dried sage leaves or sage bundle should be placed in a bowl or shell and lit and then blown out and allowed to smoulder. Pass the smoke throughout the room or around the person or object to be blessed or cleansed. Be sure to open a window or doorway to allow smoke to escape.
