Originally from Latin America (Chile, Peru, and Argentina), verbena was introduced to Europe by 17th-century Spanish conquistadors. It is now grown around the Mediterranean basin, especially in France and North Africa, as well as in the West Indies, Reunion Island, and India.
The hormonal balance in the body can be impacted by the antioxidant compounds found in lemon verbena. The effects of this may not be extremely dramatic, but they can help provide a calming effect. Lemon verbena can be prescribed to those with chronic stress or nervous afflictions, and the herb calms the mind and body.
Lemon Verbena essential oil is great to get rid of the blues and depression while boosting liver function and helping the digestive and respiratory system. Lemon Verbena is known and used in rituals to break bad habits, purify the body and the mind, cleanse your space and remove negative energy. If the situation you are facing is extremely challenging add any of the following to the blend myrrh, rue, sandalwood, gardenia, sage and frankincense.
To kill germs on surfaces, add lemon and vinegar to your lemon verbena and store in a spray bottle for easy cleaning after preparing food.
Adding a few drops into your diffuser may help kill any airborne bacteria.
Add a few drops into a carrier oil along with other anti-inflammatories such as ginger or turmeric to help ease body pains.
