Kelp has been used in many cultures as a food and medicine. It was widely prized as a trading item as it helped those living inland in preventing iodine deficiency that was known to lead to goitres and thyroid disease.
Kelp is high in antioxidants, including carotenoids and flavonoids that help fight free radicals. Antioxidant minerals, such as manganese and zinc, help fight oxidative stress and may help protect the cardiovascular system.
Kelp and other sea vegetables take up minerals from the water they inhabit, which means they can take up heavy metals as well, like arsenic, cadmium and lead. Gaia Garden’s Kelp is a well sourced sea vegetable, free of any contaminants.
Kelp is a great source of nutrients and can be added easily to any diet.
