Butterfly Pea Flower Powder (Clitoria ternatea) - Dried Herb, OrganicButterfly Pea Flower Powder (Clitoria ternatea) - Dried Herb, Organic
Butterfly Pea Flower (Clitoria ternatea) is a vibrant blue flower native to Southeast Asia and long used in traditional food, tea, and herbal practices. When steeped, it creates a deep blue infusion that naturally turns purple with the addition of citrus—a simple pH change that makes it popular in teas, cocktails, and naturally coloured foods. Our finely ground powder is easy to use in drinks, baking, and desserts.
Herbalists have valued Butterfly Pea for centuries for its antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In Ayurveda, it’s known as a gentle “brain herb,” traditionally used to support memory, ease stress, and calm the nervous system, making it especially nice in the evening. It’s also commonly used in natural skincare and hair care, where compounds like anthocyanins, polyphenols, and flavonoids help support skin hydration, soothe redness, promote collagen and elastin, and nourish the scalp.
Butterfly Pea Flower also has a long history of cultural use across Asia. In India, it is known as Aparajita, meaning “the unconquered,” and has traditionally been used in spiritual rituals. In Thailand, it is brewed as Anchan tea, and in both Thai and Malaysian cuisine it’s used to naturally colour dishes like desserts and sticky rice. Today, Butterfly Pea Flower continues to be appreciated for its simple beauty, practical wellness uses, and versatility in both the kitchen and daily rituals.
