Lactation

Lactation occurs when a mother's mammary glands secrete milk in order to feed a nursing baby. A nursing mother's breast milk production may be decreased by a variety of factors such as stress, illness and malnutrition.

Traditional herbal medicine systems from around the world use herbs known as lactagogues or galactagogues to enrich and enhance production of breast milk. These herbs provide nutritional support and stimulate lactation by naturally stimulating the mammary glands.

Continued information about Lactation:

Note: Sage is not recommeded for breast feeding mothers as it decreases the supply of breast milk. However, when a mother decides to stop breastfeeding, Sage tea is a very effective and natural method for helping the mammary glands to cease to lactate.
