Possible Causes of Infertility (Male)
There are hundreds of medical problems that can cause infertility in men. Those may include urinary tract infection, spinal cord injury, hormone disturbance, mumps, sexually transmitted diseases, anatomical abnormalities of the genitals, use of some drugs, excessive alcohol use, smoking, overheating of the testicles caused by tight clothing, intercourse problems (such as premature withdrawal) and poor timing with their partner's menstrual cycle.
Some men are more prone than others to infertility problems. Some factors that may contribute to infertility are diabetes, poor nutrition, smoking (lowers sperm count and reduces erections, frequent hot baths and being very overweight or underweight.
Possible Symptoms of Infertility (Male)
Inability to conceive within one year of unprotected intercourse points to infertility problems. In 40% of these couples, low sperm count, decreased motility and abnormally shaped sperm are to blame.
