Anti-Inflammatory

Inflammation is swelling, redness, warmth, tenderness and pain that occurs when the body reacts to infection and injury. When the body senses a threat from disease or injury, the immune system triggers an inflammatory response. Any organ or tissue in the body can become inflamed, but the areas most commonly affected are the joints and muscles.

Possible Causes of Inflammation
Inflammation is usually caused by other ailments, such as arthritis, rheumatism, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, allergies, asthma, autoimmune diseases, Crohn’s disease, inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, lower back pain and muscular neck pain.

Inflammation can also occur when there is no foreign substances to fight off. These ailments, called autoimmune diseases, cause the body to attack its own normal tissues as if they are infected or harmed in some way.

Possible Symptoms of Inflammation
The most common symptoms of inflammation include redness, swelling, stiffness and pain in a joint or muscle. Inflammation can also cause general flu-like symptoms, such as fever, chills, fatigue, headache and loss of appetite.

Possible Lifestyle Changes for Inflammation
Eat a diet made up of 75 percent raw foods and drink plenty of herbal teas and juices. Eat foods high in flavonoids, such as spinach, blueberries, strawberries and onions. Consume half of a fresh pineapple or fresh papaya every day. Limits saturated fats and salt. Avoid cola, sugar, white flour products and junk foods.
