IMMUNE
ENHANCEMENT
To increase resistance
and fight the cold or flu, the following herbs are recommended. Echinacea
is a stimulating tonic to the immune system, and helps to reduce
bacterial and viral infections. Thyme, Garlic, Licorice
and Wild Indigo are potent natural antibiotics, especially in the
airways and lungs. Astragalus increases the production of white
blood cells in the bone marrow.
SINUS CONGESTION
The following herbs are
excellent in a topical application to open and drain the sinuses: Myrrh,
Goldenseal, Cayenne, Bayberry and Lobelia.
To dry the mucous membranes and fight infections try inhaling essential
oils of Eucalyptus, Thyme, Peppermint and Pine.
FEVERS
A fever is useful to
the body by weakening invading microbes and strengthening the immune
response. Old fashioned Composition Essence is designed to help
your body fight infections through raising the core temperature. It
contains Poplar, Ginger, Red Oak, Cinnamon, Cayenne, Barberry, Yarrow,
Wild Cherry and Cloves.
COUGHS
Coughs should never be
suppressed because they are a useful way to clear the lungs of unwanted
mucous caused by bacterial or viral infections. Coughs should be gently
encouraged with expectorants which loosen and liquify mucous to allow it
be expelled. Lobelia Cough Syrup is made to a 140 year old recipe
which includes Lobelia, Bloodroot and Cayenne. It
acts as a powerful but gentle expectorant to remove lung congestion.
